FEMA Standard for Emegency Preparedness Falls Short by a Mile!

For the record, anybody new to prepping as 72 hour kit is in fact the place to start. FEMA has a website called ready.gov and the link to that 72 Hour kit is here: https://www.ready.gov/kit

The most common statistic that FEMA publishes is that 55% of the US population is prepared for an emergency but after looking at the basic list I’d have to put that statistic near 80% because here in the United States we are blessed with abundance and most people have the items on the list laying around in a disorganized way.

As someone that teaches Emergency Preparedness (Prepping) the objective statistic is less than 10%.

A rule of thumb to keep your family safe is a 30 day written plan, with a 30 day supply of materials, with all preps organized, for each and every member of your family. So if you are following the FEMA guidelines multiply the food and water by 10X, get extra batteries, and expand your personal list as needed. An entire kit for 4 people (not including water) should fit into 2 large plastic totes.

Lastly, if you are a media junkie, an abrupt full blown power and data outage will really mess with your mind. So if you are not used to reading start making it a habit. If you look up and there are 4 Horsemen in the sky…..the suggested read might be the Holy Bible first!
